Thinking of DIY my dream speakers using:
1.ATC SB75-150SL.Bass-mid 2.EsotarT330D-Tweeter 3.Kef 139B-SP1333-as passive radiator The enclosure in mind is cloning the Extrema following the details given by bfard Sonus Faber Extrema but as for the Xover,I would like to have your precious inputs and suggestions from those who are experience in this field. |

Hi,
If using a normal driver as an ABR you can adjust bass damping by connection its terminals to different resistors down a short. The KEF really doesn't have impressive excursion numbers for linear excursion or damage limited excursion and is not ideally suitable IMO. http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/w8q-1071f.htm ![]() Is a lot more like it IMO, and probably has better matching specs to the ATC driver. rgds, sreten.

sreten,
Thank you for your recommendation. I might get a pair as well to see final result. Anyway have you try this before using as a passive radiator? |

As far as a crossover you will need a (calibrated) measurement microphone to measure the acoustic response IN-baffle, an impedance measurement tool such as Smith and Larson Woofer Tester, and software such as ARTA and Jeff Bagby's Passive Crossover Designer. Once you've got these measurements we can help you further. |

The cross over in mind is as followed:
The Cross over point:2800Hz Mid-Bass--2nd order Butterworth Tweeter--1st order Butterworth or 3rd order Butterworth I am totally a novice in this field. BTW I have a used pair T330D at hand, my first impression of the music played through them is beyond my expectation. Last edited by Mikewong; 24th April 2012 at 06:34 PM. |

I thought this was exclusive to complete ATC speaker systems only? If it is then closed box alignment is the best treatment for this driver. |

The Mid-bass is the one from the SCM20SLPro which I owned.

I suggest you go active 4th order. Cross low to a bass driver such as Sreten has suggested, but run as a three way, seperate compartments. 100hz for the bass. The SCM20 is capable of pleasing bass extension and control by itself. I have used these speakers.
Another option would be a Linkwitz transform on the bass mid if you want to go deeper and do not need massive spl's. Last edited by rob g; 24th April 2012 at 07:10 PM. |

In fact I do think of going active to explore the full potential of this combination.
