Most bigger full range drivers loose their dipole character somewhere above 1 kHz. The whizzer cone (or inner parts of the cone) do not radiate to the back. Obviously pairing the drivers back to back has merits regarding the radiation pattern. And two whizzer cones are louder than one. But the drivers should be housed in a shared box to avoid lower frequency cancellation by the linear quadrupole, already mentioned by Radugazon and Charcoal.

All of the above has nothing "to do with the FR driver magnet and energy storage". And pretty sure the parameter of the driver itself will not change.

To make it clear for the readers, for linear quadrupole operation, someone has to put his drivers magnet to magnet and let the wiring + to + and - to -, if not so it's a dipole. With a closed box isolating the back waves, it's dipole or bipole, but never LQ.
