HI All
I need some advise of where to put this speaker in, here are thiele small parameters.
Visaton - Lautsprecher und Zubehör, Loudspeakers and Accessories
I like TQWT and TL, TL the most but maybe this speaker is not suitable for it.
and where I can find TL calculation software.
I have 4 of them, she work nice in closed box.
Maybe someone can say.
thanks

Hi,
That driver could be used in just about any box arrangement.
Worthy of note is fairly high efficiency, low Fs (19Hz) and lowish Q 0.34.
All the above add up to a driver with a large Vas for its size, 230L,
just over 8cuft, and even for sealed big boxes are ideally needed.
In 70L sealed Qbox is near 0.7, Fbox and F-3dB near 40Hz.
For vented and TL loading your looking at very low tunings
and long TL lines with low tunings also - in the 20Hz region.
It would make a good isobaric clamshell driver if you want
to use the other driver to halve the box sizes needed for
one driver, a quarter of the box size needed for 2 drivers.
rgds, sreten.

Well... think about a magic driver!
This crazy/super driver can do infrasound close to 15Hz and with less than 10mm Xmax. elongations, and it can go lower. Now think/compare with 10k$ subwoofers.
In this case, if you want super low extension, use a VB = 128.1 L BR box@FB = 17.6 Hz and this driver it's close to 90 dB SPL/W.

Hi,
Not really IMO. Its clearly been designed as a 10" for sealed boxes
with a very compliant suspension, hence low Fs, Qts and high Vas.
Fbox and F-3dB = 40Hz sealed is seriously good quality bass in room.

one of them is in a closed box, but a smaller one then needed, the bas is therefore some more boomy but the quality is quite good? I am a TL man, so what do this speaker in a TL, what I can try to do is start with a sealed box so that fs is higher and qts is 0.65 or 0.7 and trim the TL length to that new FS who is then for example 40 hz.
if I make a TL for 19 hz fs as normal then it is I think not so good ending.
Now it is on a TQWT a long straight pipe 2 meters long. see the movie link, the sound is some
to hard for the mobile in the beginning, it do work with good bass but less then I need..

Hi,
If you tune a TL or a vented box too high you'll just end up with boom.
http://www.quarter-wave.com/TLs/Alignment_Tables.pdf
Indicates for a TL you should go tapered and tune a little higher than
driver Fs. I assume the high driver Vas will lead to large line CSA
being needed, and the only practical option for frequency, length
and total box volume being something like a 5:1 tapered line.

HI
I have found this mh-audio.nl - Announcement and the calculation I understand partly, this is a baily version of tl but there is also a version who has no tapered pipe who use energie coming from it, baily is strong resonance damped.
a tqowt get some to big with this speaker and I don,t now how it sounds, 19 hz is not needed but the fs of speaker is needed.
tl is best what I get, how to measure the baily pipe length? I now only the mouth and neck valeus. the volume of box has to be the same as with closed box qts to 0.707? some say also tune port 5 to 10 hz higher then speaker fs.
maybe try with leap who can do this.
help help.

Shame they stopped making it then isn't it??
Could some-one smarter than me please explain the "Nawi" shape on the cone???

Hi, What do you mean ? What is the "Nawi" shape ?, rgds, sreten.
Hi,
Use MJK's models of TL's or don't bother at all. Bailey's
stuff is wrong and some other older stuff is also wrong.

Visaton describe the cone as having a "Nawi" shaped curve to the cones surface, in speaker terms I as wondering what that word signified. I know it is a complex curve, that is self evident from pictures

I don't speak German. But it seams to be related to the shape of diaphragm or cone.Hi, What do you mean ? What is the "Nawi" shape ?, rgds, sreten.
Fremderregt: NAWI Membran 🙂
NAWI membrane
"The Nawi membranes are not from England. They are therefore not very well 'barry james', but simply German' NAWI." The word 'NAWI' is an abbreviation for that is not developable. Nawi, the membranes are no developments in America, but in the Telefunken laboratories have been developed. A German engineer has indeed once said that all German inventions are bought only when they come to America to us, but that has clearly changed now?
What is now called NAWI = nichtabwickelbar? Everyone remembers the terrible geometry of hours at school and I know from there that some areas of the body can manufacture from drawing paper. Such a body is produced from drawing paper for example, the ordinary cone cone. If you cut such a membrane, they can settle into a plane. If we make the same experiment with a ball, you will notice that this is not possible: the sphere is always curved.
It is understandable that in earlier times, when the membranes of the speakers were still made of paper, the cone shape had to be applied, because paper can be only one developable produce body. Only when it was possible to produce membranes in the casting process, including the use of non-developable membranes was nothing in the way. [Telefunken News 6 1935]

Remedy offers the so-called Nawi membrane. This membrane is not a cone, but has a hyperbolic cross-section of membrane. This membrane is not developable. This means that this membrane can not be a flat piece of material forms, should be cut as this.

Hi All
I have seen that transmission lines has sometimes tapered pipes, what also the rogers pro9 has, later rogers made a straight line without tapering, my question is this better?
or what is the differend, I have calculate a tl who looks like this, also wihtout tapering.
see pictures.

yes I now, but I am not a box builder I am a amp builder, it is serues bussiness for me tthat box stuff, so some help I can need, I have look by quarter wave.com but why is everything in inch and square feed, it is oldfasioning and difficult to prevent errors.
the colored transmissionline pictures I had from a site with a xl sheet, based on a closed box as I did see.
https://public.sheet.zoho.com/publi...n-axis-transmission-line-enclosure-calculator
I have to print the tables and text and read it in the couch with a beer.
A tryout with a H-frame and double visaton, I have 4. very nice graph I think.
Only maybe I reap the Martin H frame sheet, anyway, the sheets are very nice stuff, ans I have buy them and use that only.
after some learning I less green behind the ears I am ready to start, this test zip file is a start and I think I get it already.
