cheers!

like the sound of these speakers very much! Recently have opened the box and found cheap resistors and some noName audio-electrolitics on the filter board.
Air coils and two audio-m caps though look decent to me.

Please provide some input on what could be improved:

1) 12uf elko replace to mkp. What would be the best option to choose:
-Mundorf MCap250 12uF MKP
-2 x 6.8uf audiophiler mkps
-Monacor mkp

could 12uf mkp be split to 10 and 2.2, for instance, without any affect to overall crossover performance?

2) Any point changing 5w cement resistors? If yes, what to look for? Perhaps some metal film 1% Dale's?

3) Could swapping 6.8uf MKT to mkp bring any noticeable difference?

4) Coils are on the same plane, any point moving them?

Hi dtses, nothing here is certain until you try it. Sometimes electrolytic capacitors give no problems at all. If yours is across a woofer, there is a chance that it won't help to change it but feel free to try.

In my opinion splitting the 12 into two different sizes is something to avoid...again your mileage may vary, but I do dislike MKT capacitors due to a few bad experiences. I'm OK with polyethylene in general though.

Where are the inductors leading?

thanks!
speakers do have exceptional bass, very punchy and articulated. I'm not sure too what could replacement of 12uf cap lead to, however it's always stated that better to avoid elkos at all :)

there are no coils for inductors if that is what you asked.

In general, there is not usually much to be gained from changing inductors but sometimes you'll find one that could have better specifications. I was asking where they are used...as in which one or more are in series with the woofer.

so it took only one year before I finally modified the speakers :D

swapped 15uf bipolar elkos to 12uf Solens polypropylene. Actually I have mixed up the values, hence 12uf caps were used :D It turned out that these are connected to the trebles.

I made a brief comparison before and after on just several tracks and wow! I was really surprised how the overall sound changed. Indeed, there is a difference, albeit it's difficult to say whether it's good or not, the sound is simply different now, like a slight lack of trebles, but they became more transparent and detailed. At least that is what I instantly felt after several seconds of each track.

All in all, I'm happy with results :) Elkos are evil!
