Default Port options

Newbie working on his first 2-way project.

I made a mistake calculating port length and now my cabinet doesn't have enough depth for the correct port. Do I have any options? What should I do?

Thanks in advanced!

Hi Scar,
Can you put a bend in it?

That's a good suggestion Cal.
But does someone make a port with a bend that I can order?
I've never thought of making my own port before.

I've heard of adjustable length ports but if you want a bend in it, you might have to consider making it yourself.

A little pricey when all put together, but an option...

I would do like this:
Click the image to open in full size.
Same portarea/volume as the tube version.
Be prepared to adjust the length though.
The angle may affect the tuning and the diffrent flowresistance may change tuning slightlyto.
havn't tried it yet, so i don't really know
But good luck!

PVC plumbing pipe is available in various sizes and various bend couplers in 45 and 90 degree bends and 180 degree "P traps".
Easy to cut with any saw, start a bit long and cut down a bit at a time until you are at the desired tuning, which can be verified by the cone moving the least when a tone is played at Fb.

Thank for all the response!
Making a port is probably my best bet at this point.

Hi,

Probably your port diameter is too large giving an impractical length.

rgds, sreten.

Sreten is right, go for smaller diameter port...
