About five years ago I visited Mr. Powell's facility. Calling what he has a factory I think is not quite accurate, though he does have a large shop area filled with equipment for constructing drivers. I didn't see any woodworking equipment, so either he does that elsewhere or works in conjunction with a cabinet maker. I would think that he is continuing in the tradition of his former employer, Genesis Physics. As he says on his web-site, Genesis Physics went bankrupt due to under-capitalization. The bankruptcy I don't think necessarily reflects badly on the quality of products put out by Genesis Physics.
From the American Heritage Dictionary, Hu>man Speak>ers: loudspeaker systems that a large number of humans would consider to be affordable and whose price closely corresponds to the value of the product. Human Speakers are to be distinguished from those loudspeaker systems that are primarily intended to be status symbols and whose price only very marginally corresponds to the quality of the product. Only a first order high-pass filter for the tweeter IS very unusual in a two way system with a 6" woofer. He should be explaining this and going into greater detail about the overall design of the Human 61, in my opinion.
Maybe you could request more information from him about the crossing over. |

Hi,
Lots of claims and very little fact and not a sensible option to import to Norway. Some use little fact to imagine stuff is fantastic, I'm far too cynical for that. rgds, sreten. How "careful" do you have to be to "design" a single capacitor x/o ?

Thanks guys.
Yes, there are other more sensible options I reckon. Ifound it intruiging though. I will probably go for the Carmody Classix 2 or the Dayton AL17 from Klang+Ton/Lautsprechershop, Both are cheap and don't cost to much extra to import in regards to taxes vs norwegian prices. I really like the pre made cabinets from madisound and PE, so I might do one of those if I can find a suitable option... |
