Default 2way Monitor to mimic Beyerdynamic DT770

Hi Gents

I'm looking to build a pair of near field monitors to compliment my Beyerdynamic DT770 pro headphones. I very much enjoy the sound of these pair of headphones, and I'm looking for a pair of speakers that mach their sound as closely as possible.
Note that I'm not into mixing, so an exact match is not necessary. I just happen to like my cans and would like the same sound in my living room.

Here are my requirements:
1. Looking for a sound signature similar to DT770 headphones, like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-P...9968656&sr=1-2
If you are not familiar with their sound, here is a review:

2. I already have an amp. It is an old (perhaps 1980) Technics receiver, that I inherited from my dad, just like this one:
Technics Stereo AM FM Receiver Tuner Amplifier Amp SA-500 | eBay
I believe it is rated at around 50 watts at 8 ohms.

3. Size: looking to build bookshelves. No floorstanders please as I'd like them to be semi portable (in the sense that I can pick them up by myself without back injuries).

4. Room and environment: untreated living room, about 12x18. Small apartment, so no need to get uber loud.

5. Budget: Would like to keep cost under $500 (not including cabinets).

Kits I've considered:
N1X
Zaph|Audio

Please share your thoughts/suggestions, thanks!

The N1X New kit, Neo-1X looks good (I would go with it) but
What are you doing with the lower part (LF) of the spectrum? It must be your first build?!

Well that's the deal. I'd like to keep this a 2.0 setup. I've been living with a Bose Sounddock for the last 2 years, so I won't die from not having a sub right away...
But I do want a nice lowend...
