Default strange (?) noise

Hi,

First, I just have to say that I'm a newbie... and excuse in advance for all stupid things I'm going to ask here below ;-)

I have built my own speakers, using DLS drivers.

From one of my 4" mids, I get a little, but still annoying, noise. The noise is in the lower frequencies. When I put a little little pressure from my finger on the rubber-thing that is holding the membrane, this noise disappears.
I also think (but I'm not really sure) that this noise appears more easilly if I take out the driver from the speaker-box.

Do you guys have a clue?

Thanks!

The speaker baffle may be warped, or the speaker is not properly torqued, warping the frame and causing the voice coil to drag slightly.

Is there anything I can do if, say, the frame is warped?

Yup, turn the speaker upside down.

They often are misaligned, and having it upside down cures it.

If it is a warped baffle, try backing off the screws a bit. If that's the cure, add a gasket.
