Default 4-way or 6-way speaker?

It really depends on the construction of the Crossover.

Some drivers may be running in parallel. I have not heard of so called 6 ways speakers yet.

It's just not make sense to create any speaker with more than 4 ways (4 XO regions).

4-way Criterion loaded with nice Coral drivers. Badly done speaker.

I'd pull them apart and build some simplier speakers.

What would you suggest as far as configuration?

The big drivers are close to full-range. The 2 tweeters could be mated with each one to create 4 speakers. I'd have to see a pic of the mids again to know if they could be used to make a set of bipoles.

An addendum: For what it is worth, 1 of the fellows that ended up with the large driver mounted it OB (with a simple cap XOed tweeter) and felt it was the best speaker he had heard.

I have at least 1 pair of the tweeters here, which i eventually plan on giving the whole works.

Actually i'd like to see a close up of the tweeters. The small dark cones might be the tweeters, and the even smaller ones might be the alnico supertweeters that often came with the Criterion, but missing their phasing covers.

SuperTweeters with phasing cover:

3" tweeter (these in a lovely light brown):

Digging a bit deeper, the big driver is a woofer (a 10"?), not the one i was thinking of in post 8

I can say more if i can see close ups of the drivers fron t& back.
