He says it is hard to locate the sound. Nothing wrong with the speaker. Very nice woodworking, but against that brick wall..... Please people, do some research on room treatments. It is just as important as the speaker and you should spend just as much. FAR more important than the electronics driving it.

Care to elaborate?

"FAR more important than the electronics driving it. "

That's a pretty strong statement.

Perhaps I have been doing it all wrong!

I like this. http://www.vandersteen.com/3asigmanual.pdf It's a .pdf manual for Vandersteen speakers.

Go to page 7. I have been following this formula to calculate speaker placement for years, works with many different speakers I have tried it on. The math will get you close, then move them a little bit from there and use your ear.

I think the stereo image has better resolution when I can devide the room into thirds, but the wife doesn't like the speakers in the middle of the room, so I am domestically closer to the wall,... but still, when I close my eyes, sounds tend to hang in the air between the two speakers, rather than coming from the speakers.

The method is easy to do.

Oh, and by "hard to locate the sound" maybe he means the speakers disappear?

Everything is important, it is a system.

The main things i'm noticing from these speakers are how hard it is to locate the sound, and how well they perform off axis.
I don't have an "ideal" listening position but they sound very solid from nearly anywhere in the room.

that statement kind of says it all

This sounds like a reaction to hearing a waveguide for the first time, since it could be directing sound away from diffracting around the cabinet, and reducing early reflections.
