Red face Classical Music... flatness and choices

I am a noob. Building a tower for classical listening. Regarding the treatment of bass in building a speaker I am looking at a few different choices. If I went the non horn route my efficiency is generally a little low I am finding. Lower then I want.

If the (for example) 91db 6 inch driver FLAT to 80hz and crossing at 80hz to the 10-12 inch sub at 84d then how noticeable is this? Is it more forgiving specifically as these are lower frequencies to cross in this manner?

7dB will certainly be noticeable. Is the sub active? If it is, you can just turn it up. If it's not, you'd have to bring the 6" down - and that would be a shame.

You could run an extra pair of standalone 'subs'. If you place them well they may help in more ways than one.
