MCIntosh MC2300 - JBL Performance Series - Erato Preamp - YouTube
Let me know what ya think. The JBL Series is new to me. I used just an Ipad to film and capture the sound These are by far the best full range speakers I have had to date. |

Ditto. If there is a full range speaker in that video, I must be blind. Plenty of multi-way, though

What's that lovely piece sitting on top of the amp? Looks like a really nice octal preamp.

My mistake I put it in the wrong section. I posted just to show the equipment... my bad!
The Tube preamp is an Emotive erato. I try to do better next time. |

Nice!
The JBL system is interesting: the top module containing the woofer/midrange/tweeter was sold separately and advertised as being usable for satellites in a high performance multichannel system, partly because, if I remember correctly, the 8" woofer operates in a sealed enclosure and is rated down to 80Hz.....which happens to be the recommended crossover point for THX systems. Plus, sealed enclosures provide the right slope for optimum blending with the subwoofer according to this article. I heard this system once before w/Lexicon electronics at a Tweeter store a few months before that retail chain went bankrupt, but the system had just been installed and at the time the speakers were pushed against the wall and the bass was very boomy & overbearing (I've found out even at better stores $XX,XXX systems are not always configured properly ) So I decided to come back when they had it set up better, but then the company went under.....
