Just the thing I need for my neighbors dog when she is up barking at 3 a.m.
Of course - we are using sound weapons now. Sonic weapon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dr. Gavreau is mentioned in the wiki I would much prefer to use sonic transducers to be reproducing nice music with rather than thinking about weapons. I worked around weapon systems most of my life and left them behind when I retired. Now if muzak is involved - well I'm all for figuring out a way to kill it off!!! ![]() ![]()

The thing is, if you’re not afraid of it, you can tolerate a pretty high spl at low frequencies (see the extended equal loudness curves on Gavreau link).
Here is a video of a person subjected to well over 130 dB at 11Hz, hit full screen and watch his cloths. Moving Air with the largest portable subwoofer on the planet! | Facebook Best, Tom

It has long been clear to me that the mystical pyramids, Glastonbury Tor, Chartres Cathedral and Stonehenge and Newgrange are part of a worldwide "telephone" network of infrasound stone Helmholz resonators. The idea is that anyone in the middle of one can hear everyone else too.
The precise East-West alignment of Chartres Cathedral and it's acoustic shape makes this unarguable. It is a place with a known spooky quality which you can FEEL! Why do you think all other cathedrals follow this alignment? ![]() ![]() I would like to investigate this further, but my doctor feels that ingesting huge quantities of Henbane and Mandrake in a magic brew and heading off to the Glastonbury Zodiac may worsen my already loose grip on reality.

Since this thread is a bit off-topic from the start, I'll wander into an interesting observation about stonehenge and similar stone circles. Apparently, if you played a musical instrument in it, due to Helmholz resonance, the sound in nearby stone circles of similar construction is indeed amplified over what you would hear in the open. But perhaps just a ghostly sort of echo.
You can only speculate, but just the wind blowing across Stonehenge might excite a bass note related to the dimensions of the henge too. I have no idea if 30 or 60 stones in a circle have some particular resonant quality, but the ancients were always interested in the number 5 and the Golden Ratio of about 1:1.6. Perhaps this is a Masonic secret? This would seem quite a clever trick to an ancient people. For sure, these big stone constructions would have peculiar acoustic qualities, as anyone who has heard a bass organ playing in a cathedral will confirm. You also hear some very odd amplifications when you stand exactly under the middle of a domed ceiling. I was once in an office where you could hear your own breathing peculiarly loud at a particular spot. It was rather spooky. I eventually twigged that there was a circular moulding fitted to the ceiling above my head. Bit like the whispering gallery in St. Paul's.

You can tell I am warming to this theme of infrasound and sound in general. I think I have solved one of the GREAT MYSTERIES!
![]() Why do flies buzz round the lampshade? ![]() Even if you turn the light off, they still relentlessly circle it. ![]() It's now clear. They like, or are drawn to, the echo of their own buzzing in the circular shape of the shade and the ceiling moulding! ![]() I amaze myself sometimes. We should discuss Whales and Elephants next. They doubtless use low frequencies in interesting ways, being big enough to feel and make them.

![]() FWIW, apparently there are nerves in your face that can detect 100kHz. But if you shave, you may have taken off the hairs that connect to them. This may be connected to the hairs on the back of your neck standing up when frightened, but I really don't know. Also strange but true, I believe a Panther synchronises its breathing with its prey, so it can't be heard creeping up. Male animal's bassier noises are harder for a predator to locate in the dark than those of juveniles and females.
