I'm going to build a new set of speakers for music only. I've narrowed my decision down to the Utopa OW1 designed by Dennis Murphy and the Ellis 1801b by Dave Ellis. My research indicates that both are very highly regarded designers. Both designs use the Hiquphon OW1 tweeter. The Utopia uses the Focal Utopia 6W4311 and the 1801b uses the Seas Excel W18E001.
I can buy the Utopia kit for $200 less. Is the 1801b worth $200 more? Thanks, Jeff

I might be wrong but I believe Ellis 1801b's crossover was designed by Dennis Murphy.
Something that might helps people help you is what kind of equipments will you be using this speakers with. |

You may be correct. I think someone else told me that Murphy designed both XOs. As for my equipment, it is a Class A 130WPC Denon, not a SET. I'll be buying a new CD player also.
