Default hight eff woofer that can be run W/O crossover

I need to find a woofer that can be used without crossover. I also want a high efficiency woofer, that will work well with a tube amp. A compression driver will take care of the upper range, so it should roll off around 1000Hz.
What should i look for?

I need someting around 95 dB. Don't care about the size, as long as the price is manageble.
Horn loading is also an option!

What about this?

JBL 2226h well controlled breakup that rolls off around 1500. BD designs BD15 has a smooth response but extends to 5k, so might be a good speaker to use fullrange+supertweeter.

I personally have not heard this speaker, but have heard good reviews about it.

Volt make a few possible candidates, the 251.4 is one of them:
Volt Loudspeakers - About Us

97dB and you get the choice of 4, 8 or 16 Ohm.
