Default Frequency Response Of Each Channel In 9.1 Surround Sound

I wasnt sure where to put this so mods please feel free to move if this is not the correct section. I am curious the frequency range required for each of the channels in a 9.1 system. I cant find this range anywhere. Is it safe to assume that when designing a center channel I need to be able to reproduce 40-20k hz? Is there a guide for what frequencies go into each channel? Front(main), center, front height, front wide, surround, and rear.

Most receivers will allow you to set the crossover points manually, or if you have one with room eq, like Audyssey, it will measure your speakers and set their crossover points automagically and route whatever is left over to your subwoofer.

I think the THX recommendation is 80 hz, but with a modern AV receiver you can probably tinker with it as much as you want independently for each speaker set, I.E Fronts, Surrounds, Rear Surrounds, Heights, etc.

Yeah, you should be able to design reasonably small cabinets, 80hz or so would be plenty.
