Default parabola directional focusing

So i just read something about cones and what i read had nothing to do with stereos but it made me think... i know you can focus random light into a straight focused beam... could you do the same with sound... my reasoning would be for those who live in an apartment would it be possible to direct all of the sound by using cones and whatnot directly towards where it was being aimed, thus eliminating alot of the excess noise that likes to travel through walls...

Idk it just popped into my head and i was wondering if there is anything out there that resembles my random thought...

Thank you

Yes, it's done in the Metro, in sports stadiums and other place where a tight sound beam is wanted. And of course the reverse is done with microphones.

But to get low frequencies (long wavelengths) big cones or dishes are needed. Really big.
