Trying to find a suitable speaker design in here is hard, there is so much choice.
I think what could help is to create a thread where every diyers: 1-Name all the projects you have done 2-Name your favorite project. This could be a good reference Cheers |

If what you want is "trying to find a suitable speaker design", such a list could probably confuse you more.
For myself, the answer would be: 1. quite some 2. the latest No offense, that doesn't say anything I know. But I guess some 'names' following those answers don't help much, either. Find out what you want and start from there would be a better way. |

a) Pick blindly, not knowing what it is that you want. b) Educate yourself about the product technology, audit as many examples of it as you can, then set your own criteria and budget for what it is that you want. Now you are ready to pick it and then shop for it wisely. Your success a) will require lots of luck, little effort, and will probably remain elusive. or b) will require and deliver the opposite. As you can guess, your most favorite project should always be b) as well. Regards, WHG |

on the cheap, am fond of a 1-4'x8' sheet 18" woofer Karlson-coupler topped with a slotted waveguide - its steady state graph could probably improve by moving the baffle and reflector closer to the inside of the wings. Distortion at 30vrms is around 2-3%, very wide sound field, very little cone movement for output.
![]() a taller coupler turned out pretty good but I don't like its looks - the slotted wavguide pipe normally mounts inside the coupler above the 18" woofer- these play a lot louder than reflex with a lot less cone movement (imo) ![]() Helmuth's fatboy approach looks cool Last edited by freddi; 30th October 2011 at 09:53 PM. |
