You mean it needs the open space in full behind it? Well too much work anyway. I think I will do a rod from that bracing straight to the back, no angle upwards. Start with that and try to listen before I do anything else. I already put a new bracing from front to back below the woofer on one speaker.

The vent is for cooling the coil, you can't afford to block it with a rod. And there is no good way to do it like a claw that grabs the magnet and lets its axis vent breath in a finished speaker.

I will skip on that and just try to stiffen the cabinet.

I tried a rod from the side bracing to the back but was not convinced, I just squeezed it into place and listened and then removed it. It made some new unwanted sound. The extra front to back bracing seem to do something good, but no big difference. Left to try would be a rib at the back, but that is hard to try since I have to glue it permanent first. Also I could try some foam and see what happens, probably not much like you said Salas.

Could you just screw in the back rib for a test?

No I don´t want that, risking a crack or something. I will do some tests after breakfast what I have, I have put in that foam in the back just to check what happens. I will sleep on it Salas, what to do with testing a rib. Good night Salas!

Front-to-back rod glued in place in second speaker, It did not do very much but it should be the same in both speakers so I put it in. After drying I can test if some foam at the back makes a difference by comparing one with and one without it the rest being the same.

That foam did very little reducin back-panel sound, but I noticed a sligth reduction of bass, so it will be removed. Next step will be how to test a rib at the back without gluing, or I take a chance put in one to start with. It is when hitting a piano note hard, or plucking a string hard on electric guitarr these "sounds" is heard from the back coloring/emphasize sound.

But you improved control with the front to back rods somehow?

A small improvement, yes. I think it made the hole speaker sound a little more agile.

My latest idea is to put a rib vertical from the new front-to-back panel up to the upper front-to-back bracing at the back. I think it might help a little, do you think Salas, it will affect something else, like bass output? It is 27mm wide and 19mm deep.

Can't guess. Did you estimate how much active volume you had taken away by now?

Yes it is a guess, up to me to try. I estimate at the moment somewhere between a half and max one liter. Edit: I calculated it to 0,6 liter as it is now.

I will do nothing more since I am not certain, leaving it for now. I tried with squeezing a rib in place as described above, and a slight difference it maybe was, not sure.
