Default eBay cabinets from Moldova

If anyone has been curious about the LS3/5A cabinets from Moldova on eBay, I took a chance on a pair and received them today. So, first of all, the guy does ship product. Secondly, they were packed nicely in a block of styrofoam. And most importantly, they look just like the pictures. Very nice little boxes with a pretty veneer and good finish. Good deal at $110 plus shipping.

Just type ''LS3/5a box'' on Ebay. I don't see bitumen inside for one.

That is correct. You'll have to supply your own damping for the thin-wall cabinet.

I didn't post the link because I didn't want to appear to be a spammer.

The closest thing I've found in North America to what the Brits use for thin cabinet damping is this:

Solen Electronique Inc.

I've been thinking about just going with something like this:

Sonic Barrier 1-1/4" 3-Layer Damping Material w/PSA 18 x 24" 260-535

So you are going to build a small closed speaker, which will be a "new" LS3/5a? I'll be watching

Mr dB... thank you for your suggestion... what i can here are for car... with a alu back i may have to "import" some material from Falcon, UK... so are you going to build using new driver or ...

i try to clone a LS3/5a 15ohm... i managed to find a set of t27 & b110 drivers... they were made in 1975 & 1976... i don't think they are a matching set...

i try to get as much information i can from the net but seem very confusing... had been dreaming of building ls3/5a since young... so juz do it...

I am a long time reader of this forum but have never posted before. I hope it's all right if I pose a question on the topic of these enclosures as I am rather interested myself. So concerning the "thin-wall" cabinet....

Are these Moldovan LS3/5a cabinets, said to be BBC specs, "thin-wall' like the licensed Stirling V2 cabinets? Or are they thicker like the great majority of the old LS3/5as?

I'm wondering if these Moldovans' dimensions would match properly with the assembled driver (Monacor bass), crossovers and baffles available at Stirling's Ebay store, which I believe are sized for the "standard" ply thickness.

Thanks to any who can help with my query.
