Bringing this back from the dead. I'm interested in using 4 of these in a TMM with a waveguide at 1400hz 4th order.

Any opinions?

Zaph says the peak in the distortion tests @3.7K isnt distortion but rather a measurement artifact.

I would be worried about the 3rd hd peaking between 1200-1300 hz. I would try to cross at least 1200 hz or below.

3rd order HD at 1200 would be triggered by something at 400hz wouldnt it? I see nothing there.

on manufacturer's supplied curve there is a tiny wiggle around 900hz, that's where resonance is starting. If high fidelity sound is desired, I wouldn't use this woofer anywhere above 600-800 hz

Regarding the 900Hz "wiggle"...I recall an extended discussion of woofer basket assemblies "ringing", it was the 12LTA FR driver. The discussion went well into damping out basket resonances....& the frequency of 900 Hz triggered something in my head.....looked up the driver & sure enough it is one of those cast Aluminum baskets......I'm of the opinion those cast Aluminum jobs ring like a tuning fork, as opposed to plain steel which have a broader Fr range.
just some thoughts that cropped up on my end.........

OK. I'm just wondering why Zaph says its good for use with a robust tweeter in a 2 way.
