Default Three way kit suggestion?

My buddy wants to build a pair of three ways for a given space in his home. He has made speakers years ago, and has a good understanding how they are built/ what to do, also has a table saw.

Any suggestions for a 3 way speaker kit project with crossover? I think it is safe to assume he doesn’t want to spend a large amount of $$.

A bit more work than the usual DIY design since there is no kit but it is worth the effort:
Linkwitz Pluto "plus"
Pluto + subwoofer

or two way (which can be upgraded to three way if needed).
PLUTO-2.1 omni-directional loudspeaker

These are perfect gentlemen, thanks. He’s an electrical engineer, so no problem building a crossover.

Btw, I” be cutting chamfers a bit deeper than I have been.

I did recommend Parts Express and Madisound.
I’ve built 10 HDS kits, highly recommended as far as my 2 cents opinion.

Yes, been checking that out, looks nice!

This Dayton 3.5 way tower system is designed to be a low cost multi-driver tower with high performance…….

i have 2 - 3way sets and 2 JBL active subs and couldn´t be happyer. i didn´t build the cabs , just improved them (4 old JBL lx 400 cabinets , my first speakers) and replaced all drivers with Visaton GF200 , Scan-Speak 10F/8424G00 and Peerless 810921.

here is another kit that may prove interesting, and rather simple too:
somewhat leftfield design, affordable and designed for close wall operation:

Discussed here:

It is a two way because the BMR allegedly does away with the need for seperate tweeter.

For the dedicated builder with lots of space and understanding spouse.
If he has a big home and massive sound pressure levels are the order of the day with monster dynamics for home theatre these bass light monsters (multiple sub's required so really a three way system in the making) could be just the ticket:
