Hi, not easy with wood ? How do you expect to make the moulds ? rgds, sreten.

It has been done, it is commercial suicide, as the result has huge shipping costs.
A Metronome is an ideal moulding candidate, but the moulds are just as complicated
as the real speaker, probably more so, given the driver cutouts, makes no sense.

5 pour concrete/cement/plaster lining of basic boxes is a lot simpler and has been done.
Thick front baffle and line the other five faces, the linings don't have to be parallel,
in either plane, so internally the linings could form all sorts of internal shapes.

I have a Faraday Sound sub, has an 8" driver with concrete cabinet.
It is VERY heavy for its size!
It does have a very solid bass output tho. If you planning something moveable,
I dont think you should go an larger than a 12"

If your not planning on moving it, work out the best sites and build big!

Go open baffle if you want to accommodate a 15 inch woofer while keeping weight down.

You could make it a modular system to make moving them manageable ... i.e. separate enclosure for bass, mids and highs etc. They could stack on top of each other.

Hi, Faraday also made concrete speakers, with Morel drivers, and Audax, I recall, also VERY heavy, rgds, sreten.

The VERY heavy concrete cabinet Morel version was called the Bassmaster I recall.

What does he want for his end goal; great sound, or a sculpture?

To be honest, the acoustic difference between a well designed speaker in a normal wood cabinet versus a concrete enclosure will not likely be very audible. I doubt there will be much cost savings and the difficulty will be pretty high.

What is his budget?

"They" also make it of steel, glass, pipes(concrete and plastic), foam, Corian, others... and wood. (and) Bricks and mortar.

One of the more "interesting" non-wood reflex cabinets I've seen that was quite popular in Europe in the 70's was a complete ceramic toilet. Who was it said form follows function ???
