Okay, here's the criteria.
This will be for a center speaker, so i might not need much baffle step compensation. I can measure in a bit just how much "boundary gain" my TV/TV stand give my current speaker. -The midrange I plan to use, is pretty sensitive, so I don't wanna throw that away by using some 85 db sensitive driver. I want to shoot for a L/R 2nd order crossover to save money and maximize integration, though of course if the results dictate a need for something else it's not a big deal. I'm just saying that I don't want to be dealing with big magnesium breakups. There will be two woofers in parallel flanking the above driver, so we can't have more sensitivity than the mid of course. I of course can't afford to use two 4 ohm woofers in parallel. two 6 ohm woofers might be pushing it too, depending on final results. 8/12/16 ohm would thus be prefered. And since there will be two mids used, cost is a given factor.. no $300 woofers!!!. I would prefer drivers with shorting rings. Finally, I plan to use a sealed enclosure with subs so I need T/S parameters that give me an F3 of 90hz or lower. Anyone got any ideas? 8s would be prefered but I can move up to 10s. 12s might be pushing it mostly from cost and aesthetics perspective though I think it'll physically fit. Thank you for your time. |

Right now the Seas Nextel W22 models almost perfectly for what i'm looking for, but at $500/pr i'd really prefer to find something similar but cheaper.

8" from SB acoustics is my favorite.
SB Acoustics :: 8'' SB23NRXS45-8 6o L closed box with two woofwers should get you in 90-91dB range including BSC. Lot of pleasure with punch and kick bass. I dont even need a sub as this combo goes low enough in my 26 m2 room. |

And for centre...dont need 60 L, just mount em in something smaller like 35L box and you get response somewhere in your range.

Maybe the 8008-Center could give some inspiration

If the Radian was just a bit more sensitive, I would use a prosound driver like B&C 8" but i don't see it working passively, and I'm not bi-amping my center before my stereo mains Quote:
If I were doing a WTMW that seas 4" midrange driver that Troels used, is probably the same one I'd use. But I've already decided to go WCW. My inspiration was the JTR Triple8HT-LP. |

I've used the RCF L8S800 in a ported bookshelf. It extends down pretty good.
