Default Unity horns experiment(need some help)

Hello everyone,

This summer i have dedicated all my time to building horns and SET amps.
The next step after a 190 tractrix would be an unity horn. It needs to be cheap as it will be just an experiment for the moment.

These are the drivers that i want to use

Emminence apt50 CD for HF and below a Monacor ku-516 CD (goes down to 160hz) or some sealed back cone drivers(anything that is cheap).

So....where sould i start?

I've just started on a Synergy horn. You need a capable compression driver, don't skimp there. The Pyle PDMR5 sims well, easy to get and it's cheap - see Parts Express. Where to start? Do some reading, there is a lot that has been posted about the Unity online. You'll probably want a woofer with some sensitivity and the ability to meet up at 300 Hz. Will your compression driver go down to 1k?

The problem with unity horns is that there is no single cristalised source of information...such a pitty.

I would like my unity horn to go lower than 300. 150hz-ish maybe?

The driver choice in my country is restricted to Beyma, P.audio, Eminence, Monacor and Tang Band.

Regarding the MF driver.... can i use a CD here? I will purchase 2 monacor units anyway that go down to 160hz for my tractrix horns.

sounds like you have your mind set on what drivers you want to use and so on. Well I suggested the suitable midrange cone for a bandpass "thread" but if you don't have time to read that one ,I suggest you read the other thread that has pretty much all you need to know about unity horns called" A s
SUITABLE MIDRANGE CONE FOR BANDPASS"
