Default Yet Another Newbie First OB Build

The details are available on here. Your comments are welcomed. The speakers are not yet fully broken-in, but the typical characteristics of the OB design are already clearly evident, the sound is open and dynamic without the box-iness (duh!)

Thanks to DIYaudio's wonderful threads and Martin King's software, I am a happy camper!

Thanks, I don't quite know, a few of the recordings I tried just sounded very "lifeless", usually these recordings have sizzling highs and booming low end, so I just felt something were missing... Anyway, I have been enjoying my blues and rock collection too much to care for now, that's a good thing

Default Quick Update

When I wrote my review wrt to electronic music on my blog, I only listened to a few tracks from Cabaret Voltaire, and they all sounded rather compressed and lifeless, so I said the speakers did not like electronic music. Well...

So I spent the last 30 minutes playing various electronic music from my collection, just to see why I did not like the sound when I first heard them. Yup, Cabaret Voltaire still sounded bad... But it turned out that it all had to do with the source material - these speakers exposed poorly recorded or mixed tracks mercilessly. So it is not the genre of the music that mattered, it made no sense now that I think about it. So simple story of garbage in, garbage out...

Back to listening

Jaz
