Hi I'd like to explore the options of changing from Edgar 80Hz straight horns to something else that meets the following criteria:
Least compromised design in terms of sound transparency, neutrality, dynamics definition. Efficiency and low distortion, obviously important. The upper range of the horn shall be around 400Hz, the bottom range shall be determined by the depth and height of the horn (design) but I would like to have around 80-120Hz usable response. The available space I have under my midrange horns is around 35" tall, 30" wide, 35" deep. I am not at all knowledgeable in horn design so I am looking at buying an existing product that meets my need or getting a proper design and taking it to the woodshop for production. What would be the least compromised design for my needs? 15" driver vs smaller drivers? Flare type? Compression ratio? Thank you, Herman |

You should get a decade of bandwidth. 40-400 Hz.
A Klipsch Jubilee bass horn will do that for you. I have read many times that folded horns are very compromised in terms of sq, especially if playing over 200 hz. True?

Does John Hasquin share his designs openly? I am looking for a rectangular tractrix horn, probably to be be made from glueing MDF templates.

That's right
So why not just make a proper horn without folds? Any designs out there to cover below 400hz and fit 35" tall, 30" wide, 35" deep spot? |

I have an idea about a line source thing with horn mouth on its side
basicly like this but is calculated to use backwall for support or else its not possible |

OK, looks good, even though it's a folded horn. Is there more information on this design?

experimental, for my bass guitar, and less critical
but might be better than that will be tested later if interested, I have construction pictures there are a few details that could be changed to make it easier to build I can tell you how to but other than that... |
