Starting from scratch ?

Hi everyone,

I currently own a system based on a SE 6L6 amp with fe127e dbr speakers. I find it a bit agressive and bass are not enough precise.

Should I buy a subwoofer or start from scratch ?

Personally I think I should start from scratch building a 2 way system.
What I am looking for is a pair of bookshelves under 500$ dollars.
I mostly listen to rock, violin, piano but I also enjoy voices.

What do you think ?

It depends how much effort you want to go to. If you do add a woofer you will be helping the Fostex as well as your bass. Are you using any filters with the fostex?

Hi AllenB,
Yes I use a RLC filter to attenuate the high frequencies. I see what you mean, with a subwoofer, it could do the job ?

Subs are usually a good idea with smaller speakers. Not only will you have better low frequency extension, but you'll lower distortion on your main speakers when you cross them over at the sub frequency.
