I had thought about full range drivers, something like the FX120, but does not really work in sealed boxes. Bass problems really are a problem in my room, and the two most successful speakers have been the ATC's and Keesonics. Even the Rega R1's which were designed for small and tight spaces had an uneven response.
Still if i do go with the CA12RCY, there are only two projects i have found similar-

I doen't seem a good idea to me to lash out £300 or so on DIY speakers that
you don't know will work well, if they don't you'll never recoup the outlay.
IMO what you should do is look for good used small speakers. Vented
should not be an issue, as you can always block ports, or do what I
sometimes do, detune them with a foam lining, it works great for
bass tuning I've found, if the boxes are somewhat boomy, and
it also extends the low bass cut-off point.
Look at getting the speakers for less than the drivers would cost you,
if they don't work at least you've got decent parts for other projects.
As an example these could be quite interesting :
SONY SS-B2ED LOUDSPEAKERS Serious little boxes, German-made and UK-tuned | eBay
A day to go, quality drivers (very extended range tweeter), good boxes,
real wood veneer, presumably a proper crossover, probably go for far
less than sourcing similar parts would cost you, worth playing with.

Yes i see where you are coming from, but I already have some commercial
speakers at the moment, and the fact that i am asking on here is that i
would like to make my own again.

I appreciate that, but it doesn't seem anyone knows what sort of
speakers will address the issues you have, and as you say, its
going to turn out to be an expensive build if you go for it.
Even if someone says I've built so and so, and they sound great,
doesn't mean you will think so, in your system and in your room.
A few years ago I bought a pair of used Musical Fidelity MC2 mk1's
that turned out to suit my system and requirements very well, it
was somewhat fortuitous, I didn't really know that they would.
They were far better for purpose than a pair of ouch expensive
Celestion 5000's with 24" ribbons I was using at the time, and
struggling with, turns out I didn't need to chuck money at it.
So IMO if you have an undefined issue to resolve, it is best to
experiment. The MC2's have foam damped ports, added cabinet
wall damping and a mild tweak to the stock tweeter levels.
If you just want to build something, by all means do.
But what will address your issues seems unknown.

Well the CA12RCY is go, been listening to the Keesonics for a good week or so now!
They use the Seas 11F-GX-

I just received the SB12NRX25-4. I actually thought I ordered the SB12NRXF25-4. Anyone ever done a direct comparison of these 2 drivers? The SB site says the foam surround is better for midrange. I will be using these in a 4L closed box with a tweeter to match anywhere above 3KHz to maybe 6KHz. These are mostly for streaming audio, YouTube, etc. as feed from my laptop through a small class D amp. I guess I would like to know if there is a very OBVIOUS difference in the mids; say from 2KHz to 4KHz or is this just a very subtle thing and not worth going through the hassle of a return shipment and even exchange?
