Default Aegis One tweeter failed

I have a pair of Aegis Ones and the tweeter has stopped working in one of them. I don't think that it's a result of clipping because I don't listen at high volume (any more, never with this system). I don't know what to do except take it to someone that knows what they are doing, but it would be good to know if there's something easy to check (beyond wire connectivity). Is there a crossover to check? How can I tell the driver is bad (I could swap it with the good one I guess)? If it needs to be replaced, any good ideas where to find it?

Thanks.

Jon

I'm no expert, but i'd remove the tweeter and check for continuity between the terminals with a multimeter. If you don't get a reading then it may be a broken wire. If you can use a soldering iron, and depending on where it's broken, you shoud be able to unwind a length from the voice coil and re-solder it.

Saying all that, If you don't hammer them, i'd imagine it's something simple like a connector come loose.

Where are you located ? Perhaps a local diyer would have a look ?

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a meter, but I could buy one. Definitely don't know how to use a soldering iron.

I live in San Antonio, TX

Maybe take the whole speaker to these guys and see what they say. Take both in case they want to keep it overnight in speaker hospital. Speakers hate to be alone.
