Here is a little something I have been working on for a while, started out as a experiment - I am hooked on open baffle sound now
Final design consists of the following: 2x Jaycar 12 inch paper cone bass drivers (chosen for low power draw - 50wrms and a fairly large excursion 1x no name 6.5 inch poly cone driver - removed from a set of in wall Jaycar 2 way speakers - they sounded quite nice) - 70Wrms 1x 1inch HiVi (i believe) Jaycar resell - ferro dampened 50Wrms Each loudspeaker has a external 12db LR 2 way crossover with zobel correction. Bass drivers are paralleled and time aligned - driven off a 2 channel amp (eventually) and digitally crossed over. The concept is similar to Jamo's R909 - differences are - slanted desgin, tapered sides to the tweeter to minimise baffle size, whole aluminium/MDF system with air gap between pieces - minimises vibration transmitted to the floor. Proto Types (old pic) ![]() New Design (changed again too) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
