Default diy center speaker

hi
i recently made a diy speakers (L +R). I now have from my old speakers 4 audax 8'' woofers and 2 morel tweeters. I am thinking to make a center channel speaker. I made some box calculation and the box must be at least 35l whitch is too much. The calculations is for 2 woofers. I wanna ask you if i can make a center channel speaker only using 1 woofer+one tweeter and not 2 woofers. Then i will have a box about 17l whitch is ok for my available space. I know that the problem is the big woofers but i don't have smaller ones. The speaker will be placed horizontally if that matters. For a center channel speaker what F3 i must have at least?

I have seen people use a center speaker that's exactly the same as their L/R speakers, but I'm not sure how well that works.

As far as F3, I'd say as low as you can get. I have a passive sub on my center channel and it sounds quite fat and nice.

Edit: Which Audax do you have? There's a design on this page:

If you plan on using active amplification you can make a smaller box and equalize the low end response to whatever curve you wish. (within limits)
Look up Linkwitz Transform.
