Can a crossover network rated at 8ohms be used with a speaker rated at 8 ohm? Thanks for your input

That would generally be how it is done.. Not sure I understand your question though..
I will add that COTS cross-overs are quite generic and don't do a particularly good job with any driver - much better to get some help and have someone design you an X-O that is closely matched to the drivers and box design you are using.

oh damn, my fault, can an 8 ohm crossover be used with 4ohm speakers. I am sorry for the confusion

No, not unless you can tolerate an X-O frequency that will be much higher than expected. (With a simple 6dB per octave slope the X-O will an octave higher for example.)
