I am starting a project consisting of two Hivi D6G woofers, a Vifa M11MH-09, and a tweeter, which I haven't settled on.
I like the Vifa XT25, however they only sound really good in a direct line as they have rather poor dispersion. Then I saw the Vifa XT19 tweeter, which is similar but smaller. Looking at its graphs, its got considerably better dispersion. I plan to cross over to the tweeter at about 3K, as the Vifa mid has a very smooth response and is well within its range. https://www.madisound.com/store/prod...oducts_id=1181 https://www.madisound.com/store/prod...oducts_id=1179 Has anybody here used the XT19? If so, what are your thoughts? Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a good performance good value tweeter. I like 3/4" tweeters and might also look at metal domes, as I think a well implemented metal dome just sounds awesome (but as I said, needs to be well implemented or they can sound nasty lol). I don't have a lot to spend so will be looking at tweeters in the $60 and less bracket, unless there is something of exceptional value. I think a 3/4 would be preferable due to dispersion characteristics, and the higher crossover point is not an issue. Any ideas? |

The XT25 sounds and performs better than the XT19 when it was crossed between 2.5 - 3.5Khz.

My preference is easily the XT19. I had it crossed LR2 @3K in a 3-way for some time. It easily outperforms the XT25 unless you need the extra extension as you might in a 2-way. In a 3-way, I'd say to go with the XT19.

XT25 was a kind love and hate relationship to me
I liked it, but not without problems XT19, I can't think of anything to say against it sweet and natural I think XT19 also was best performer in a distortion test, together with a Hiquphon, some time ago |

I use XT25G (that I just got from hasaudio in unzud for a very good price) in a 3 way crossed LR4 at 3k in an active setup. They are a big improvement over the DT25 (or 27) Vifa's that were in there, mind you, they were 22 years old.

I think I will go with the XT 19, unless I see something else. I have always preferred 3/4" tweeters over 1", and since I will be using a relatively high X-over point I think it should do the job nicely. Another deciding factor for me is that one supplier in NZ (HASAudio) is selling them on special for $39 NZ, which is about $30 US.

I have not been able to compare XT19 vs XT25, but I do have some later model NE19VTA-4s that I plan to use with RS-52 2" mids. I recommend you have a look at that tweeter. You can find some measurements and a review on Zaph's web site (and also do comparisons with other tweets there).

Yes that is another tweeter I have seriously considered. If I dont go with the XT19 I will probably get one of those. I'm looking for something with good dispersion, that will have good clarity and sparkle, while not sounding harsh or fatiguing. Im assuming you have listened to them, how do they perform? Not too harsh sounding?
Also for me I would have to buy a pair from Madisound and they charge heaps for freight, whereas I can buy the XT19 locally. How many of the NE19VTA's do you have? |

I have 5 (for a set of HT speakers). I was fortunate to be able to piggyback onto a fellow DIYer's puchase, saving some postage cost.
