Default Crossover question

Howdy all,

I'm building my first set of speakers, zaph ZMV5s and I'm a bit hung up on the crossovers. Specifically I can't seem to find all the right parts.

He calls for:

15 AWG Steel Laminate 2.70 mH .164 DCR
5.0 ohm Eagle 10 Watt Metal Oxid
2.0 ohms Eagle 10 Watt Metal Oxide

I am only able to find Steel Laminate 2.7 mH 15 AWG Inductors .168 DCR, will this work?

Any tips on replacements/alternative sources for these?

The difference in the chokes is 4/1000 of an ohm. I think if you measure them you find more variance than that so consider the published difference immaterial. I'll let others chip in on the resistors. Madisound has them.

EDIT: I see they're out of stock on the Eagles. I've not had any problems with the Mundorf MOX type.

Yeah, agree with Cal on the inductor. Any 10W resistor type in those values will get you started. I believe the metal oxide variety is just a personal preference.

Parts ConneXion - The authority on hi-fi DIY parts and components has plenty of resistors. I prefer Mills MRA5 series. You can also buy Mills at www.soniccraft.com, they are much faster in processing and shipping than partsconnexion.

Thanks all I'll do what you guys say. I think i might combine a few resistors to get the desired resistance. Looks like I forgot my high school physics.

I just ordered some stuff from Erse I'm not sure how good they are about shipping quickly yet, but their prices seem great.

I too prefer Mills NI WW resistors, but if the designer specd 10-Watter, I believe 12-Watt Mills MRA-12s would be a safer choice. And I love Sonic Craft for their same-say shipping.

are there not resistors with the exact same specs as listed in the BOM by another manufacturer or does each man. try to create a niche for a certain market?
