First, i think distortion according the motor, for the Audiotech. Not the cone. The AT can go higher. But I compare the AT 10" to the focal 13".

Second I think the marriage with the ATC dome will be better. The ATC sound family is not closed to Focal sound.

Third is the crossover, you can go to 6 or 12dB slope.

I think it's better, the fourth reason, to use a 10", the AT, "better speed"

The Focal audiom is very good looking.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Note if I compare 12" to 13" . The AT have a motor with less inductance, can go higher easily with less distortion. The Audiom is built for bass ?

Hope this can helps.

Has anyone ever compared the bass quality of Audio Technology woofers compared to Focal Audiom ?

If anyone has good input pls let me know.

I have never used either and would like to get some ideas.

Mainly regarding 10 " - 13" sizes .

thank you
Several years ago I have compare this follow drivers:
1) Audio Technology similar to this:
Flexunits 15 E 102 25 10
Open Air Loudspeaker - Audiotechnology
2) Focal Audiom 15ax - go to post #1 under

The most different was the clean and tight bass at low levels by using the mentioned Focal Audiom due its low value of Rms and high value of Qms.
Actually the bass transmission was better in all respects by moderate SPL levels, because the absence of rubber suspension with high mechanical losses.
Only at very high SPL levels the Audio Technology transducer provides more pressure and more punch
For me the result is clear: For classic and jazz I would prefer the mentioned Focal Audiom and for pop/rock, techno and Rap music I would prefer the Audio Technology, because the stiffness of it's cone is higher as by the Audiom 15ax.
The comparable test was performed (long time ago) at the enclosure showed under

Speculation between high and low Qms is not worth much thinking about.
One has kapton and the other probably aluminum former which makes the
difference of Qms.

Important is it does not affect much total Q. I'd rather take AT's higher Xmax
over the one of Focal.
