Can I simply connect them up to my amp and carefully run a (say) 15000hz sin wave through them on winISD?
They are currently connected to some fullrangers and I can't tell if there working or my circuit is correct, so I want to check them on their own. Plus I don't have any measuring equipment. Thanks |

Not the best way tbh.
First you can do a simple resistance check across each tweeter. That is 95% good enough. Then you can connect to any amplifier but via a small cap of say 1uf and just play some music. You must not connect directly. Edit... just to explain why its not the best way. 15Khz is high and some folk can not hear that. Also you might be surprised just how much "power" or rather voltage is needed to get what you think is a reasonable level at that frequency. Perhaps damagingly high. Music is a far better general test believe it or not

Thanks, I don't have anything to check the resistance, but do have a 1uf cap. I know not the best, but can I just simply go to this step without doing damaging anything?

Yes but make sure the volume is set to low and then bring it up slowly.

Thanks for your help, I can confirm that one is working, I'll check the other later.

Indeed when you doing things to a budget you can't just write stuff off and get new ones. Lets just hope the other one works.
