Default 16 ohm 6.5" midrange speaker

My husband has owned a pair of speakers for 40 years that have a 6.5" 16 ohm midrange speaker. I'm not sure of the brand of speaker they are. I can't find a 16 ohm midrange speaker for the life of me. He'd like to get them up and running again. Any suggestions?

I moved this over into the speakers section, I think the response will be better here.

One of the options, if you can't find 16 ohmers is to get a very sensitive 8 ohm driver and use an 8 ohm resistor in series with it. It's not really that simple as you will have to get two of them so they match and you have to find a driver that has a similar impedance pattern to the existing if you don't want to mess with the crossover. You can do it but it's kind of hit and miss. Do you have any kind of speaker repair place near you so you could take the 'good' driver into them see about getting it tested? That will help with the matching to your existing crossover.

one of the best places I know for speaker repair and replacement is orange county speaker.

link:

Official Speaker Repair Site - Orange County Speaker Repair and Sales - SpeakerRepair.com - Home of GLS Audio

they are one of the only on-line places I trust to do all my pro audio speakers ( live and studio)

There are many variables and the fact that it is 16 ohm is not likely to be the most significant issue. You could probably use an 8 ohm mid, but whoever does this will need to know more about the system.
