Default Need Help with my first speaker project

I want to build two sealed tower speakers for my living room (46',30') .
I have a DIY amp based on the DX Precision I (250W per channel 8ohm) the speakers need to be able to handle that kind of power.
I want to to be three way and have a 1 8" woofer, my budget is about $350 for the drivers.

I have been researching and i was wondering if these drivers will work good together and sound extremely good.
1 Vifa XT25TG30-04 Tweeter,
1 Tang Band W5-704D Midrange
1 HiVi D8G 8" Kevlar/Paper Woofer

i can make a basic crossover but can someone please help me make one that is specific for these speakers.

It is better to build a proven design. Even choosing a proven design needs some works.
Building a new one is too risky. Good speakers are rarely a one-shot design. A lot of sweat invested in good speakers

That statement I read to often.

Where are those proven designs, and who tested and claims they are better than other designs.

The one with a professional looking website makes the proven designs?

It is possible to make a good design when thought of 4phi for bas an 2phi for high think of distortion( linear and harmonics) and phase. And we are most sensitive to midrange so that has to be first class. Simulate and check with measurements. The filter part is the challenge.

Best choice a 2way basreflex to begin.

Madisound is a good start.

You can also leverage existing builds that some of the senior members here and other places that have been publicly posted and have demonstrated quantitative results.

The long and short of it is based on reputation. You will always be rolling the dice to some extent.

Well, this hobby is all about experimentation now isn't it? What fun would you have if there was only a little 5 page book of "proven" designs? Rolling the dice can be more fun, especially when it works out and you can sit people in your living room and say "I made that!"

If those are the drivers you want to try, go for it. Think up a basic design shape that gives your woofer enough air space that follows "general" guidelines, such as having a sealed chamber for your mid-woofer and tweeter.

Design a rudimentary crossover to start with. For those drivers, I'd probably suggest 375Hz for the woofer to mid-woofer and....mmmmaybe 3000Hz for the mid-woofer to tweeter. Start with one of the online crossover generators and refine it from there, such as suppressing peaks or sensitivity differences.

3-Way Crossover Designer / Calculator

That will get you started on what a basic crossover should look like. If you'd like to spend more time working on a great crossover, look at these:

FRD Consortium tools guide

If you come up with a design (or copy one) throw it up here and let everyone pick on it until it's something you can live with.

I would not trivialize the process of rolling your own design. If the poster really is a first time builder he has a very steep mountain to climb.

There are orders of magnitudes more things that can go wrong compared to getting it even half right.

For the uninitiated one can easily get frustrated and drop the hobby if they take on too much, too soon. A two-way system requires a lot of work, time, and money to execute. A three-way is much, much more complex.

Planting the idea that a first time builder can simply build a three-way from scratch without a good explanation of what to expect is a recipe for failure, not success.

Your comment about sharing any proposed design with the forum is an excellent idea. There are some excellent people here that would happily lend there experience.

And that was my general idea. Don't be afraid to design on paper.

Apologies if I made it sound like he should be marking wood already.

My first 2way design took 1 year of crossover changes and I ended up replacing the woofer to get the bass response to be right for me as well. If you do not have tools for measuring the finished speakers, build a proven design.
If your goal is to learn something, read the loud speaker design cookbook and be prepared to buy lots of different drivers, cut lots of wood and to be disappointed and amazed for time to time.
If the goal is to listen to good sound, build a proven design.

I Really don't care what speakers i use, i just want it to sound as good as it possibly can for $350 worth of drivers can someone please specify drivers that are in that price range and fit these specs.

-2 or 3 way
-i like the Aethers hybrid dipole/vented type box (easy to build)
-loud enough for hi-fi/home theater and a 42' by 32' living room
-100-150Watts
-works good for hip/hop-pop-alternative music
-good bass response (but I do have a subwoofer)

since i have a subwoofer can't i just build
Tang Band W5-704D/Vifa XT25TG30-04 MTM Towers - Techtalk Speaker Building, Audio, Video, and Electronics Customer Discussion Forum From Parts-Express.com
it uses the same drivers i specified, but does it need a low power amp mine makes 280W RMS 8ohms and the tang bands are only 28W max

28W is a surprising amount of power if you're using them crossed over with subs.
