Default Possible issue with crossover

Not sure if this is the right section to post in, if not please move mods.

This xover has the ability to disconnect the Woofer and then you can run a Semi Active setup but since i've done this I get a turn on pop through the drivers connected to the xover. Now the woofer section is correct the Earth/negative goes to the positive woofer connection and vis versa the positive input.

Now that i've traced out the circuit I've realised that the jumper (x with red circle) to disconnect the woofer still allows the coil and cap to create a circuit. Could this be causing the issue with the cap discharging on amp turn on. I've got more testing to do but wanted to see if i'm on to something or completely off track.

Thanks

Instead of just disconnecting the passive xover, you should have it on another set of input jacks so that you can still use the inherent or previous wiring. I would make the 'disconnect' in the form of a switch that jumps the coil or shorts it out, and makes the cap part of the circuit open or no connection.

It could be your problem, but I can't be certain.

Later,
Wolf

Crossover is actually from a High end 3 way car audio set DLS UR36S to be exact. I've been running them semi active rrecently and since doing that i've got this pop and that's after removing the jumper as DLS recommend. The whole setup is running of a 6 channel amp. Channels 1&2 go to the xover for powering Mid & Tweeter, 3&4 for midbass drivers and 5&6 are bridged for the sub. The pop only seems to be coming through channels 1&2 which is why I suspect the xover design. My next tests will be to hook them up to channels 3&4 and see what happens this will either point to the xover or the wiring going to the xover. I'll also setup a driver next to the amp and test all the channels.

It wouldn't be a big isue to remove the cap and coil if it proves to be the xover otherwise I might consider making a new unit using some better conponents though the DLS parts aren't that bad.

It is possible that your turn on pop is coming from your active crossover circuit, preamp or possibly the amp that you are powering the woofer with. If it is coming from one of these you will probably need a turn on delay circuit.

Well i've been outside trouble shooting and turns out the pop is coming from the amp. My initial testing indicated it was only coming from Channels 1&2 and it wasn't coming the HU (xover built in) as I could disconnect all the RCA's and the POP was still there. But i've unhooked all the speaker wires at the amp and then tried each channel at a time and the pop is in all of them and doesn't matter which speaker it's hooked up to. So i'd say it's the amp not to surprised as when I first got this amp it had this issue and the high/low driver chips needed replacing as the manufacturer had received a batch with a high fault rate.

I initially didn't think it could be the amp since the issue had already been fixed but looks like it's back.
