They are an ugly duckling aren't they. I'm not sure how they sound yet......my girlfriend picked them up today on her lunch break. They should be here in about 2 hours

They just need some new grill cloth.

The mid range on these is stunning......far better than I ever would have thought. The highs are beautifully blended in with no "harshness" I expected from the bullet tweeters. The bass is lacking but in a 10X12 room with about 10 watts of power there is just enough to rattle the closet doors

The cabinets are in nice shape with no chunks or scratches.....just one water ring. The grilles are original and mint but with only one name plate

As wonderful as they are, on CL they go so I can move forward on other projects..... but in the mean time I won't be sad they will be here!

I wouldn't alter them at all, too rare....Yes, send them to a professional woodworker/refinisher & have them redo the cabinets in a rather dark walnut grain color. Redo the grillcloth too, using a more contemporary cloth.
I thing those two things will update it just fine.........& make it easy on the eyes.
Did they come with those stands???

Rick,

That was just a pic for reference but I do have them on stands almost identical to those. I had the same idea about touching up the cabinets a little.....there is one or two minor scratches but nothing I would repair and I'm quite picky. I put them on my local CL in hopes I can get them to someone who will appreciate them more than I. It would not go over well with me if I ruined such a rare piece.
