Default Tannoy dc3000 capacitors help

Hi all can any one help i have changed the standard caps for some monacor plasic foil caps. Thay have been in the speakers for 2 months now but sound very bright and agresive as any one used these caps any help would be great

Just a thought, have you played with padding the tweeters down a little?

Hi allen thanks for reply yes i have been messing with different amounts of wading but thay bstill sound really shrill at the top end. Im not sure what type the caps were that i took out but thay look like electrytic caps the ones i have have put in were monacore plasic foil thay are more detailed but i cant stand the shrillness

Sorry i thought you meant the damping. No i have not touched the resistors as these are the first speakers i have built. I have copied the oroganal dc 3000 plans apart from the port should be slotted and i have put a round port in the back

Some capacitors have a built in resistance. I won't presume to guess how much in your case, but you aren't the first to have this issue. I'd try this all the same (maybe one or two ohms leading to the tweeter crossover to begin with)

Hi allen thanks for help i will try a 2ohm resister then unless i try different caps are plasic foil caps the best or shold i try some electrlic caps or may be different type what do you think the best option

Polypropylene foil are thought to be the best. Electrolytic can sound very good if you get a good one.
