Default First build/computer speakers

Ok so this is my first build and I am hoping you guys could give me some feed back. I am making amall speakers for use on my computer or with my zune. This is what I was looking at so far.
mid
HiVi M4N 4" Aluminum/Magnesium Midbass
tweeter
HiVi TN28 Fabric Dome Tweeter
crossover
Dayton Audio XO2W-3K 2-Way Crossover 3,000 Hz

I will build a sealed square enclosure with the tweeter mounting on top.
Probably going to power it with this
Lepai Tripath TA2020 Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Amplifier

will this make a decent setup? Or am I missing something?

You are going to get piled on for suggesting the use of an off-the-shelf generic XO. The XO is the weakest part of a speaker, and it really needs to be specifically designed for the drivers/box.

Given the application, why not toss the XO completely and go 1-way. Much fewer issues near field. For your budget, there is quite a selection of good FRs. And knowing that tweeter, with better HF. My personal 1st choice would be CSS/Mark Audio EL70.

Default Yeah- you won't like them as you plan....

The M4N has 2 breakup peaks that need to be dealt with, and the TN28 is probably not robust enough to meet it where it is required to xover. I used the TN25 with the M4N in my Sophomores, and I think they are incredible little speakers.

If you look at my signature here, I have it linked to my profile elsewhere with the writeup.

If you want a 2-way, I recommend building a proven design first, like the above^^.

Later,
Wolf

I second the use of a full range. Depending on the unit, baffle difraction and box you might introduce a filter at a later time to attenuate some bump in the freq curve. Lacking a masurement mic, this is best done by listening. I suggest you use a digital equaliser to play with the sound until you find something that works. I like Blue Cat Audios Tripple EQ.

Whether you need a filter or not is driver/box/room dependent.

I have yet to get any FRs i like from PE (this is th enext one i'm going to try), but some of the other Tangbands, and the house brand RS100 (?) get good reviews.
