HAVING A PROBLEM WITH TWEETER FOR CC-370 PARADIGM CENTER

I bought a paradigm cc-370 v.2 center and it turns out that the tweeter is popped. I tested the crossover and its fine, but I replaced the diaphragm at a paradigm dealer and he told me it should be working fine. However when I took it home I noticed the same problem that I started with. The tweeter sounds distant and tinny, but when you get it to about half power it starts buzzing and crackling extremely loudly. This tweeter is definitely not performing the way it's supposed to. If the diaphragm has been replaced, what else could be wrong with it? I can't think of anything besides something ferro fluid related. But how could that fluid (or lack of) cause it to distort so badly? Especially when the diaphragm is new. However, when he took the old one out it was as if the guy had it running so hot that the coil completely melted and seperated from the plate. I'm at my wit's end with this thing, and I really don't want to look for a replacement since it is a shielded tweeter. If anyone could give me any insight, I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

i love paradigms have 7.1 in V2 ref studios myself.

anyway....maybe dumb ideas but, have you tryed a diffrent channel on your amp?
then maybe take the xover out of the cir.....and put a 100v cap in series with the tweeter to the amp and see if its the xover under a load. youll have to do the math on what value to put in series ....or maybe someone knows.
after that i dont know.
if it got hot enought to go from a voicecoil to a voiceband maybe the ferro fluid boiled out????? can it do that?

I've been asking myself many of the same questions. I've tested it on 2 different amps now, I know my power amp is fine, and I replaced the 2 caps on the tweeter section before I tested just the tweeter itself and it buzzed like crazy. I've tracked it down specifically to the tweeter. As for the ferro fluid, I've been wondering that myself.....maybe. I'm more wondering if the fluid DID come out somehow, could it, would it even cause distortion that audible? I mean, what else is left to go wrong? I thought the diaphragm was the only part of the tweeter that COULD go wrong, mind you if there was something wrong with the channel that the coil passes through, you'd think that the guy at the dealer would have seen something. It sounds like it's blown still, it's the weirdest. I want to take it back to the guy, but what am I going to say? I don't even have the receipt anymore.
