Clones - Chipboard or MDF?
I am cloneing a set of Audiomaster speakers & am wondering if there will be much difference if I use mdf instead of chipboard? I have made prototypes from 18mm chipboard (as per the originals) & am pleased with the results (sonically), but they are shoddy with gaps & allsorts (not good for an infinate baffle, I know - but it was just a quick test) & I would prefer to use mdf for the finished ones as it's stronger. I am making them as a floor stander instead of stand mounted as per the originals & they have a partition in them (in order to keep the same capacity) that will be filled with sand. They only have foam in at the moment - I haven't put bitumen panels in them & they sound close to the originals (obviously I will in the finished ones). Will it make much difference using mdf?
Thanks for any advice,
it can even improove.
