Question replacement tweeter for Energy Veritas 2.3i

Hi all,
I'm looking to replace the tweeter on my energy veritas 2.3i. Does anyone know of a drop in replacement, or have the specs for the tweeter? To replace it I need the sensitivity, mounting diameter, and impedance.

I was thinking of getting one of those nice vifa ring radiator jobs - any other thoughts?

Thanks a mil!
JR

Hi jrubins,

I have the same problem... I am getting a faint static in the mid range tweeter of one my Veritas 2.3i towers. I called up Energy and they don't have tweeters for the 2.3i any more. Were you able to find a replacement tweeter? If not, did you replace it with an alternative tweeter?

Thanks!

JR,

I wrote to Gentec International (Gentec International), the Canadian distributor of Energy parts for tweeters/crossover board for my 2.3i's, and here is the reply I received from them:

The original part has been replaced by part # 5DR52030. This is a Mid-Tweeter module. Separates are not available. Cost per unit cost is 207.60(plus shipping and tax). Crossovers are readily repairable but are available. Part # 4C20V23iH ... CROSSOVER PCB V2.3i H. Frequency. Cost per unit is 162.62 (plus shipping and tax).

Energy USA informed me that the tweeters for the 2.3i are no longer supported. So, your best bet is to go with Gentec. The guy (Bill) I corresponded with was very helpful - he suggested I could buy through them, but it would end up costing about 20% more than if I bought it in the US due to border costs and shipping.

I still haven't replaced the tweeter in my speaker - I think it's more likely a loose connection than a bad tweeter. But I haven't figured out how to remove the tweeter assembly, so I may look for a local speaker shop willing to do that for me.
