Default Beginner budget design with parts available in Europe

Hello everyone,

I'd love to know if anyone has any suggestions for a speaker design that can be made with parts available in the UK. I was obsessing over making some Overnight Sensations or some thing like Zaph Audio's ZMV5 but the drivers are impossible to find without importing from the US. Basically I want to build a bookself speaker that sounds good and can be built for about £100.

From what I can see Europe Audio is the best website for drivers and parts in Europe.

Thanks for any ideas in advance

Zaph's SR71 is a hair bigger than you're looking for, but it does use exclusively Seas drivers - shouldn't be too hard for you to find what you're looking for.

The ZMV5 uses a Vifa tweeter. As far as I recall Vifa is (or was) a Danish company. I can't imagine it'd be that hard to find. Don't know about the woofer, though.

Hi - thanks guys - Willie's HiFis looks good. I need to sit an trawl through all the stuff he sells sometime. As nice as the SR71s look I think its going to be a bit outside budget - but maybe I'll save up. The specific problem I had with the ZMV5s was finding the MCM woofer.

visaton drivers are easily available in the UK and they have plans on their site:
Visaton - Lautsprecher und Zubehör, Loudspeakers and Accessories
I have some of their cheapest woofer WS20 and they are quite good, much better than skytronic and other brands in the same price bracket. They also produce expensive and genraly good perfoming high end drivers.

In the UK £100 dosen't get you much inductors in particular are very expensive.

The best company I found for uk speakers is Blue Aran - Professional Sound and Lighting
They do a huge range.

Is it possible, say on the construction page, to have a sticky where everyone could add to, or better a wiki thing, categorised into speakers, amp kits, veneers etc, of website selling all the stuff. Only because it is very hard to find stuff when Googling up as they can all come under so many different names and that doesn't take into account places like Blue Aran who are electrical but happen to sell a few favourite drivers at ok prices.

Because just for examples I know of a place on the Uk 'bay selling a massive(and I mean every wood available) range of veneers. I would like to share it, but there is no where.

Just a thought.
