It's my latest incarnation of an all in one.
The smaller drivers are in the front triangle and the woofer and amps are in the back part.
Now I'm going through the painful waiting stage. The textured paint doesn't seem to dry at the same rate as the spray-on base coat.
Oh well, I guess I'll pop a cold one and watch a hockey game in the meantime.

I've been thinking about doing something very similar for some time now...
I was thinking cylindrical enclosure but that introduces as many problems as it solves, at least as far as construction.
I'm curious to see where this goes!

Cal, maybe you have been already checking all these awesome pages or pure research ?

Sometimes you have to throw the tweaking, the religion and the foo-foo aside and just throw a sledgehammer it at!
Bunch of speakers, ton of power and a box--drink until it sounds good!

Yes, plate amp for the woofer and a T-amp for the mid/high.looks like fun, two seperate power amps? so active crossover with mono bass?
Me too.I'm curious to see where this goes!
Sounds good to me.drink until it sounds good!
Nope, but when I have time...yerk yerk yerk...

This is just a portable system, it will be fed by an iPod. (don't shoot!)
The box is made but the textured paint is really slow to dry so I may or may not get to this tomorrow but when I do you guys will be the first to know. 😉
...and a T-amp for the mid/high.
Not a T-amp, those use a Yamaha chip. May have some topological relation to the Flying Moles.

I will not shoot because even a basic MP3 128 kps is perfectly able to to transmit the main part of the space informations and make the difference between good or flawed speaker design.
Don't tell that to the guys that are at the 1811th post on the duel LP/CD...

Looks like a fun project. I have something similar in mind to build for my niece's birthday pressie. Are you using an iPod connector or just a 3.5mm jack?
OK, thanks. Someone referred to it as a T-amp once and it stuck. I don't know the difference. 🙂Not a T-amp, those use a Yamaha chip.
The standard RCA jacks in the back of the chip amp. I also have to use the high level in on the plate amp as there is no line level out. I will wire it on the backside of the plate amp so there are no exposed wires.Looks like a fun project. I have something similar in mind to build for my niece's birthday pressie. Seen the EMES OWL?
Looks good. Seems I have some competition to live up to. 😉 I am hoping the angles on the baffle gives me some decent separation. Perhaps similar to what they are doing with the divider?
Off to find some more paint. Not happy with the pattern of the textured fleck.
Now, where does one find paint at 6:40 on a Sunday morning?

Found one. Covered the speckled paint with flat black. Two dozen cans of spray paint in the garage but no black. Luckily the local Home Depot opened at 8. 🙂
Now, off to the folks for a Sunday visit and perhaps some assembly later this afternoon. That is if I'm not dragged into a plant store somewhere on the way home. Tis the season you know.

There is some electronic trickery involved you might be able to adapt to your project.
