Manger + IB15
Just tossing some ideas around...
Will an MTM configuration of two IB15s (in an infinite baffle) and a Manger MSW be a good combination? The system will have active speaker management, and the crossover will be between 400 Hz and 1 KHz.
Consider the hypothetical room in the attached pic. (The speaker boxes are drawn in black, but only the Manger will have a box... the IB15s will be open at the back). Think of this room as a mastering studio, designed according to Tom Hidley's 'Non Environment' approach, wherein 4 of the six surfaces in the room are rendered as dead as possible, down to the lowest frequencies. The front wall and floor will have hard faced materials to reflect some energy for the comfort of the humans.
In this room the only occupant will be the mastering engineer, seated in the yellow circle. There will be the smallest possible console in front of him. The engineer will want to monitor both very loud and very soft, and want everything to be revealed in proper balance at both extremes. And he will want 20 Hz - 20 KHz response, no compromise. Imaging has to be rock solid in the sweet spot... corners and sides of the room are not important, in this hypothetical case. There will be only one occupant in the room and he will be bang in the center of the sweet spot.
I want all the nay sayers to come out of the woodwork, it is your contribution I need! What are the potential problems with this system? Why would something else be a much better idea, and what would be that something else?
Thanks,
