Default WT2 owners: A better way to measure your capacitors

If you're not a subscriber, pick up the May issue of audioXpress. There's an article in there describing in detail how you to measure ESR, phase and capacitance over 31 data points (10-20 kHz) and even compare one cap with another, good with bad, etc.

When I recap a speaker for a customer, I now include a cap test report showing how the old compares to the new with respect to ESR, capacitance and phase. The data is much easier to understand than anecdotal, subjective opinions.

Default Woofer Tester 2

It's a product for speaker enthusiasts, mainly intended to measure woofer Thiel/Small parameters. However, it's utility as a capacitor measuring device has only been exploited recently as noted in the magazine article.
If you do a fair amount of speaker DIY'ing, you may want to consider getting one.

Here's a link to the WT2 site.
